What's The Gameplan
During Heartopia’s Call of the Whales event, the gold merchant is one of the easiest ways to stack up some serious gold, especially if you know which items are actually worth selling. Granted I only recommend you do this after you have purchased everything from the fashionwave store first! So before you start cashing in, make sure you unlock everything in the fashionwave store in 3-days or less by following my guide here on the site!
My Fastest Gold-Farming Method
Okay, did you unlock everything you wanted from the Fashionwave Store first? If not, bestie, do me a favor and go back to the start of the gameplan before you make me run over your pet in Heartopia. 🧟♀️
Otherwise, if you have done this, great... and my apologies for threatening your pet, it won't happen again, I promise 👁️👄👁️! Now we can shift our focus to getting rich in gold so we can purchase all the home plots, building materials, décor, and clothing our hearts desire. Festival events are one of the best times to make it rain gold because, once the event ends, if you’ve followed my gold-farming method, you’ll have plenty left over to bring your newest blueprints, home plots, and build designs to life; that is, without spending any of your own real life money.
Understanding What Everything Sells For
You must understand that not all event items are worth the same amount of gold—or time investment. Some ingredients may look valuable, but once you compare the selling prices, you’ll realize that the real money is in cooking your catch before you sell it.
In fact, Hey Bunny has a wonderful image-carousel on Instagram that breaks down each event food item and how much it sells for... which arguably makes comparing everything much easier.
The Squid Is The Way
If you’re anything like me, even when all the prices are laid out, it can still be hard to figure out what you should actually focus on selling. No worries—I’ve got you, bestie. I did the fieldwork and can report that the best items to sell during this event are the Grilled Squid With Strawberry Fruit Jam dish for quality and the Ocean Iced Drink for quantity.
Well, the Strawberry Squid dish gives you a stronger payout per item, while the Ocean Iced Drink is much easier to produce in larger batches. The caveat being that the ingredients for the Strawberry Squid dish take much longer to gather. In Heartopia, strawberries take six real-life hours to grow, and you need four bundles to make just one jar of jam. This means you’re going to run out of the strawberries, wheat, and squid required to make this dish rather quickly! In fact, on my six-glitched event stoves, it takes only about two rounds to cook all of the strawberries I've grown within 24-hours! And don't get me wrong, while the payout makes it so worth it—even at the one-star level grilled squid w/ strawberry jam—that limited supply leads us into why we focus on Ocean Iced Drinks for quantity.
Why, You Ask?
So, should I switch to the other major dishes after cooking all of my Strawberry Squid dishes for the day?
No, friend. Wheat, strawberries, and squid take far too long to farm, so you do not want to waste those ingredients on less profitable dishes like Mandarin Squid or Pearl Cakes. Instead, save those ingredients and keep your focus on cooking as many Strawberry Squid dishes as you can.
Well, our second recipe to cook for this 'get rich' gameplan is the Ocean Iced Drinks! When we are not cooking grilled squid with strawberry jam, we place our focus on this dish because it does not require any of the time-consuming ingredients that the squid dishes do. In fact, starfruit grows in only 20 minutes and pearl powder can be purchased daily from Massimo, the chef. Both ingredients do not require much effort to turn into an Ocean Iced Drink... and if you’re following my daily farming routine below, you’ll have plenty of Pearl Powder saved up to make them.
Okay Then, Tell Me About The Ocean Drinks
Now that you see how quickly they can be made, you can understand why—even though they may fetch a lower price at the Gold Merchant’s shop... you can still amass a small fortune by spam-cooking the Ocean Iced Drink for its production quantity.
